Was looking for some videos of the old Saturn V launches, when this showed up. I found it somewhat interesting. By very definition, it's "unidentified," and admitted as much by one person in the video. There's a lot of spooky sound effects and vague language that tries to paint a picture of it being aliens or something. Just under 4 minutes:

Somewhere in the middle the claim is made that a lot of the crews saw something. It also claims NASA has decided never to mention it for fear of ridicule. That raised two questions to me. 1) Why is Buzz Aldrin discussing it in this footage? 2) I might be incorrect, but wouldn't that flight footage belong to NASA? If so, if they're not releasing it for fear of ridicule, why could I just watch it?

If this was already discussed, I apologize. And I in no way believe they saw aliens. Anyone seen this, heard about this before, has it ever been determined what it was, or might have been?

Works of the US government can't be protected by copyright- they go straight into the public domain. NASA would have no way of withholding it if someone who wanted to show it got ahold of it.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the info! Would, or did, NASA have possession of the footage, then, even if they didn't hold rights to it? And if that's the case, why would they let it get out?

But it can be protected by National Security.

After watching that video, Youtube offers you a few other videos - watch the one of Buzz Aldrin on Larry King live - in the last 15 seconds or so, all is revealed.

Ahh. I figured it'd be something like that. Thanks for the tip on the video.

Yes, thanks for the info to the second video. It looks like Michael Shermer and Stanton T. Friedman were there too.

This video also shows why Larry King is such a poor interviewer. He gets confused easily, asks asinine questions and interrupts too much. In the video, Buzz Aldrin is explaining something very interesting (and using cool models to boot) but Larry can't just shut up and let him talk.

That video was conveniently edited to leave the impression that Aldrin had seen a real UFO, and that he was very impressed by the sighting. I think I read that over at Bad Astronomy website. The video apparently cause a big fuss, so Aldrin explained later that it was one of the module discarded panels what they actually saw.

Some time later Aldrin appeared on Larry King Live to discuss UFOs, and nailed the coffin of the (in)famous case once and for all. Here's the segment of the program:

YouTube Video on Apollo XI UFO.

It's interesting to read the commnents section. As was predictable, the UFO woos now accuse Aldrin of lying. Others say that he was forced to change the version. Oh well ....
