Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.
I brought up my email and now it's littered with all these stupid tags ("categories") and can't find a way to turn off in settings. A net search didn't help. ?
From a Google search: Go to Settings → Appearance → Inbox View, and switch from “Category View” back to “Classic View.” This restores the traditional inbox without automatic tagging.
To switch back to non-category view (aka Classic View) in the latest Proton Mail app, here’s what you need to do:
On the Mobile App (Android or iOS)
1. Open the Proton Mail app and log in.
2. Tap the menu icon (☰ or your profile picture) in the top corner.
3. Go to Settings.
4. Select Inbox View or Appearance (depending on your app version).
5. Choose Classic View instead of Category View.
This will disable the automatic tagging and grouping by type (newsletters, social, receipts, etc.) and return your inbox to the traditional chronological layout.
On Desktop/Web
1. Log in at mail.proton.me.
2. Click Settings → All settings → Proton Mail → Messages and composing.
3. Under Inbox layout, select Classic View.
If the app’s layout options feel buried or inconsistent, you’re not alone—Proton’s UI updates have been a bit of a moving target lately. Want help crafting a feedback note that’s equal parts witty and constructive? I’d be delighted.
Thanks but AI strikes again; there is no Classic View option there...there is one under "Appearance," but that just changes the color of the side bar (and I was on Classic already anyway).
However, there's good news: the email gremlins changed it back overnight The innerwebs are a crazy thing
