• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Another sky spiral?

Yeah it does kinda look fake.

"Footage from an airliner has surfaced with the event horizon from two different angles."

http://www.nowpublic.com/strange/ufo-spiral-another-norway-spiral-seen-over-western-canada

If this claim was verified through all the various agencies (the airline, the witnesses, video analysis, etc), then wouldn't that suggest that at least some of the videos are legit? I doubt it can be verified, but if it could then it would be interesting. Til something like that is put forth I'm not too interested.

"UFO Spiral in the sky and heard across western Canada"

http://www.theweatherspace.com/news...sky-seen-and-heard-across-Western-Canada.html

The video looks like a total photoshop job...

I can find no reference to the event from any news agency other than theweatherspace.com, with which I am unfamiliar, but looks like a UFO enthusiast site. Unless video and/or pictures other than those already posted by theweatherspace.com show up independently at other news agencies, I'm calling this a hoax.

Not only is it fake, but it was almost certainly made with a program called Particle Illusion. It's a particle emitter that emits 2D shapes (basically like brush shapes in Photoshop) which can be made to behave in various ways after they're emitted (spin, rise, sink, fade in & out, etc.) You can simulate sparks, fireworks, smoke, explosions, rocket exhaust, etc. The Mythbusters often use it in their animated clips.

I recognize the "ring" at the end of the video as one of the shapes. (see pic below.) You can download a free demo of Particle Illusion here.

No other legit references to the story and a comment from the SNOPES forum, "BTW I believe very little on this site."

It's amazing how many Google hits there are about this and similar sightings.

I vote FAKE until proved otherwise.

Pretty good.
A nice landscape, on a perfectly dead calm evening, with absolutely no vehicles moving in the distance, no birds or insects flying, no trees swaying in the audible breeze--just this thing moving across the sky.
Or, maybe it's a photo still shot, with a sound dub and a photoshop/CGI artifact applied...

I wont believe it till Steven Greer or Richard Hoagland say it's so. On the other hand lets just put it in with the rest of the evidence of aliens.

I also find it pretty funny that almost no details are given in the article. It says this happened "off the coast of western Canada" and that the display "lit up the regions of western Canada", but where? What regions? Why does the article treat Canada as if we're some amorphous undifferentiated blob of land to the north of the States? I'm more offended by the lack of love for us Canucks than I am over the crappy video.

UFO SEEN OVER DOWNTOWN CANADA... FILM AT 11!

Well, the hoaxer who has stepped forward in the update link claims that his "experiment" proves that Europeans "have their heads on straighter for the facts than Americans."
Meh. Whatever. He seems to have a high opinion of himself.

Yes I read that this morning, Also Betty Morgan, Weather Space's news editor has been sacked for falling for such a blatant hoax (unless that is also part of the hoax!).

The part that really made me think this guy is a bit up himself was the part that said:
"Kevin Martin, a Southern California Weatherman has come forward as the hoaxer to what is likely the biggest hoax ever created."

Pfft... obviously never heard of the Turin Shroud, Bigfoot, The Amega Magic Stick or the Lochness Monster then.

For it to be a hoax, people have to actually fall for it. As far as I can see, only one person did, she's now at the local employment exchange.

Heh, yeah! "The biggest hoax" what a joke! Like you said, all the others are far better and will be remembered. This will only be remembered by a handful of people and definitely NOT go down in any history books. :D
