Black Lives Matter's Shaun King Is Not Biracial"

Prominent Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King said for years that he is biracial, because he was born to a white mother and a black father, but Kentucky public records reviewed by The Daily Beast show that King’s father is white. Jeffery Wayne King, born Nov. 11, 1955, is listed as Shaun King’s father on his birth certificate. Criminal records identify Jeffrey King’s ethnicity as white.

Shaun King is a contributor for Huffington Post.

He also claimed to be the victim of a hate crime when a bunch of "rednecks" beat him up in high school, and received a full-ride scholarship for black males to traditionally black Morehouse College from Oprah Winfrey. More can be read here: Link

A color chart needs to be developed for people who claim to be black but look white. "Even if you are African-American, if you are lighter than this sign, you do not get special treatment and scholarships from Oprah." ;)

He's a white dude

So is J-Roc - Know wa'm sayin'?

If this story is true it is very - I don't know what. Did he grow up in a black neighborhood? :boggled:

It's some kind of mental illness. I guess it would be interesting to explore that aspect further but for now my only comment is, pathetic people are pathetic.

I have no knowledge of the facts in this case, but I will remind people that if this story is only based on who is listed as "father" on a birth certificate, it should be realized that the legal father is not necessarily the biological one. One way this can happen is that the legal father did not realize at the time that he was not the biological father. Further, I believe that in at least some locations in the USA a person can successfully be listed on the certificate as the legal father even if they and the mom know that someone else is the biological father. A minimal example: I believe that children resulting from an anonymous sperm donation typically have the mom's spouse listed as "father" and that this can happen even in SSM with two females.

One legal aspect: most law courts accept that being listed as "father" on the birth certificate creates full paternal responsibilities, including child support in the event of a divorce, even if the listed father turns out not to be the biological father.

Heh. Neither of my biological parents are listed on my birth certificate.

Just saying : albinism put a crimp into that. Not saying this is the case here , but that guy is definitively african : (wqikipedia commons) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9a/Albinisitic_man_portrait.jpg and he is whiter than me.

I think it's great that black can now be something worth aspiring to. This is progress.

Here's what he says in his defense:

25. First off, the key facts about my biological relatives are all wrong. They tried, but my family, like many of yours, is one big mess.

26. Like many of you, I have siblings I don't know, siblings I'm estranged from, and a family full of secrets, divorce, affairs, etc.

27. No 2 siblings in my family have the same set of parents. We're all over the place. Some of us are not even blood relatives.

29. If you have known me from when I was in elementary school at Huntertown Elementary until now, you've known me as black or bi-racial.

Kind of sounds like a smokescreen to me. He's throwing out a lot of statements that don't directly have relevance to the question of whether he has a drop of "black blood" in his biological family tree. But maybe it is "complicated".

I honestly don't really care. If it's true that his family is that messed up, then he didn't come from a very privileged background. Let black folks decide if he's one of their own I guess. Is he allowed to use the N-word? Not for me to decide.

He should have Maury Povich or someone do a DNA test to resolve this once and for all.

He looks a great deal like the white man who is listed on his birth certificate, based on the photos I saw. I would bet on him being his biological father. This guy is just another person pretending to be black for attention and to have a sense of belonging that he was somehow lacking. He doesn't look black in the slightest. He just wears Malcolm X glasses, keeps his hair cropped closely, and cultivates facial hair in a manner commonly worn by black men.

*clicks link, sees source is Breitbart.com*

Find a better source, Daily Beast.

Is there such a thing in America as a black community? If so then is this person accepted as a black person by that community? Does he identify himself as a black person? Does he have any black blood in him? If so then he should be classified as a black person.

This is not something I am making up. It is similar to the definition of an Indigenous Australian. See this as a reference http://www.whatworks.edu.au/1_1_1.htm

You have no right to tell transethnic people what race they are you bigots. Black is a state of mind.

Precisely. Like me: I've been telling people for years that I feel like I'm Napoleon I, but those asshats in France won't give me the First French Empire back.

According to an earlier post, he got a scholarship for black males.

So he lied, benefitted financially from the lie, and put himself in a career where he could continue to benefit from the lie. Dishonest isn't crazy; it's merely dishonest.
