Look at this picture

Now it looks like the statue is hovering in mid-air...

Guess how they did that trick

My guess, assuming that it's a straight photo, is that the lower foot of the statue is almost identical in tone to the trees behind it. Also, with the camera position where it is, the foot would not show against the concrete support. Since the lower part of the statue blends into the background, it is percieved as being part of the background, effectively rendering it invisible, and leaving the statue seemingly unsupported.
 
My best guess - the blond is using psychic powers to levitate the statue.;)

Time for Mr. Randi to hand over the cash, I guess.

If you blow the picture up a bit, you can see where it is connected to the base. Kinda cool though.

After much scientific study the only conclusion is that the statue is wearing Air Jordan's shoes !!! :D ;)
