• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

aliens for real???

Man, I wish... but it's gonna take more than an unsubstantiated claim attributed to an unnamed "senior Government official" before I get my hopes up.

Also, the phrase "maverick UFO nation" belies just a teensy bit of bias...

I'd be surprised if the whole site is a hoax. Even as brief as the articles are, it would be too much work for something that doesn't lend a huge amount of credibility. I'm going to assume that they have a very lax and unedited submission policy and someone sneaked that one by.

"It is believed that a telephone hot-line..."
"It is believed Holland and Germany..."
Two paragraphs start by it is believed. No real sources, no name of this senior government official.

bickerer, I'm new here, but I appreciate how you tried to find something new to discuss, even if it didn't pan out. It's amazing how boring this forum can become after a few days. I'd try woo sites, but they start out boring. BIG ;)

In the Skeptical Inquirer issue that focused on UFOs recently the French program was discussed at length. The analysis was not flattering, to say the least. (Sorry, I'm moving and have much of my stuff boxed up or I'd get the issue number and a choice quote or two.)

The thing is, even if it's a named government official with full transcripts and videos of them claiming aliens are real, that doesn't prove anything at all. Working for the government does not automatically make you sensible, or even sane (for that matter, I suspect many would argue it does the exact opposite). Just look at things like the claims about HIV made by those in the South African government. Given the number of people who believe in aliens and the number of people who could be described as government officials, I'd be utterly amazed if there wasn't some overlap between the two.

The only thing that can demonstrate the existence of aliens is actual evidence. And the great thing about evidence is that it doesn't matter in the slightest who provides it.

Excellent point. Logical fallacy # 14, Argument from Authority.

I have a top secret security clearance and they still won't tell me where the bodies are.

But what would count as real evidence? A photo? No, it'll be photoshopped. A video? No, the aliens would have been made up and added in digitally. Actual alien? Robotic suit from Japan. Actual UFO? Just some publicity stunt by hoaxers. There's no point in looking or even presenting evidence for aliens if everyone is just going to ignore you, which they will, because they are so used to hoaxers and conspiracy theorists. By the time someone will walk along with actual evidence no one will be listening anymore. Just another hoax, they will say, made by some Uni graduates who are bored out of their skulls.

I would take an actual alien but tastes differ. An actual alien not in some freezer some where no one knows, but an actual body being studied by real scientist and open to peer review. That would be the most sensational news story ever.
