Apparently I'm not the only one desperate to see Penn & Teller's Showtime appearance. I just talked to Linda and she said she is also eager to see it. In fact she said (if I remind her Thursday) that she will see to it that a VCR is available and we can use the meeting room after hours to view it, plus any other tapes people may bring, such as old Johnny Carson shows, "The Biggest Douche..." etc.

So the question is, who can bring what? I think Buddyh said he would bring a copy of Penn & Teller, but the more copies the better. What else?

I can also bring along copies of the Horizon program and the very cool Derren Brown shows from England.

Must remember to transfer them tonight!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
You are my hero budddyh!
The first pizza's on me.

Oso (aka Bill Morrow)

I can bring some episodes of "The 5th Quadrant"... its a show appearing on the Comedy Network here in Canada, that makes fun of the paranormal by having 'fake' segments. (Kind of a cross between the Daily Show and the Red Green Show.)

Not a great show, but it has its moments.

I can also make copies of it for anyone who wishes.

You'd better sell tickets for this -- oh, wait, you are! :D

Can you imagine a room filled to overflowing with skeptics laughing their butts off at the JE "South Park" episode (aka "The Biggest Douche...")?

Can we see any of the old "Carlos" stuff? How about some secret footage of Uri Geller bending spoons the easy way? Or that old 8mm of Randi levitating! :p

John

The JREF also has an extensive video library with many (most?) of Randi's media appearances. Although I've never checked, I would be shocked if it did not include his Tonight Show spots.

If the hotel gets Showtime, we can get together Friday night to watch episode 2 of Penn & Teller: Bullsh!t.

Oh yes... I can!
OK who's got the South Park tape?

Agreed, so we'll (I'll) also need to see if we can get a TV into the meeting room. If not we can adjorn after showing the 1st episode of ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ then re-adjorn.

We'll probably need to do it again Saturday (and Sunday?) because lots of people will be gone to the planetarium. on Friday and the pub crawl on Saturday.

- Heh heh... "after hours video" viewing. :D That sounds a little naughty. However, if you guys INSIST, I can bring some tapes...

Randi was on the Tonight Show? When was this and where was I?

He was on over 20 times, starting with Jack Parr, and running into Johnny Carson. I saw him doing 'pychic surgery" once, very amusing.

I can bring Randi's "Secrets of the Psychics" NOVA program. It features Randi on Johnny Carson doing the Psychic surgery, as well as Uri's FLOP on the Tonight Show, among many other things. of course, some of you may be buying this video there, but I can bring it just in case.

Don't hate me, but I'm too young to remember any of Randi's appearances, or the PLNW (pre late night wars) Tonight Show. My only memory of watching Carson (not including clips and recent compilations) is of his very last show.

So how about it Hal, can we dip into the library and show some of the Johnny Carson/Jack Parr appearances? That'll get people eager to buy "Secrets of the Psychos" (oops... sp -1). I've never seen any of the Jack Parr shows.

Can't find the Horizon tape. If someone else has it, that's great, otherwise I'm sure the JREF is supposed to have a copy.

Plenty of other things to keep us amused though...

I don't know if any dipping can be done for this meeting, as our hands are quite full already. But that does seem like somethign to think about on the website later, if the copyright issues can be resolved.

Lawyers?

I didn't see a response to this, so I've made a tape of both the John Edward South Park and first episode of Penn & Teller, and will bring them with me.

IOW, before I was born.

I knew Randi was old, but I didn't think he was that old. He was on the Tonight Show when Jack Parr was host? Damn.
