My local football team is treating torn hamstrings with acupuncture!
I want to point out to them the absurdity of that. I am aware of an article in the Journal of the AMA that rates real acupuncture equal with "sham" acupuncture (ie putting the needles in the "wrong" places), but better than no treatment. This, I take it, means that acupuncture is as effective as a placebo.
My question is: Has any acupuncture practitioner ever applied for the $1 million challenge? If so what (briefly) was the protocol and what were the results of the preliminary test.
I am aware that no-one has ever passed the preliminary stage.
Any help would be appreciated to stop this silly waste of resources.
