A Weapon Surrendered

Richard, I've heard small arms are ideal for giving you a closer shave than a mere razor can manage. Can you give it a try and let me know how you get on?

This is a victory for freedom and a defeat for tyranny.

Any publication that states a political or social movement is dead has either a poor understanding of history or an excellent understanding of doublespeak.

. . . semi automatic you can do the whole face very quickly

Last time I checked, almost all handguns and rifles were semi-auto, ie one trigger pull, one shot. Assault rifles sold on the civilian market were always semi-auto, not fully automatic weapons. Most of them use the same ammunition as "hunting rifles" and have similar ranges. The only real difference between legal rifles and assault weapons is that assault weapons "look" dangerous. This is why the assault weapon ban was ridiculous from the start, irregardless of the actual merits of gun control.

Don't most handguns and rifles require you to cock before each shot? That's the difference - semi-autos have no hammer. You can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.

Just because you can't see the hammer, that doesn't mean it's not there. :D

Is a DA revolver semi-automatic then? It fires as fast as you can pull the trigger too. :D

I haven't looked at any stats, but I'd guess that the various types of actions are all well represented in civilian hands.

Except for full auto, of course.

Most modern (ie made in the last 90ish years) guns self-cock after each shot, meaning that you can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. As an example the M1911 .45 cal pistol has been in existence since, well, 1911 is a semi-auto, one pull one shot, as fast as you can pull the trigger type. This identical weapon is sold in the civilian market with no modification.
