There is a place in Las Vegas where you can shoot guns of various types and styles. It is called, not surprisingly, The Gun Store.

Several JREF Forum folks went there last year (the sight of rebecca with an automatic weapon was enough to stun everyone to speechlessness) and had a great time. Some others have mentioned doing so this year.

So do we want to try and schedule a time for this activity as
something "formal" or just let folks do it as they have the time and inclination to do so? Friday between the TAM4 sessions and the PJ/geek parties may be possible. So is Sat/Sun, depending on the planning for the Star Trek side trip.

Thoughts?

Oh, www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/ on 2900 East Tropicana. Site doesn't seem to be working right at this moment.

Sounds like a....

wait for it.....

BLAST!

Strange hobby that- shooting guns. Don`t you shoot anything else?
A gun fest and a Star Treck trip! woohooo!
What a strange and frightening world this is. That`s my thought.
LOL rikzilla.

We've got some talk of it on this thread:

http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48232 I guess folks thought shooting guns off is quite the show too!

A mention of Wednesday afternoon, I put forth Thursday morning. The only other free time when it's open is Sunday afternoon, but that shuts the Red Rocks tour folks out, and plans are underway to do The Star Trek Experience when that tour ends anyway. It runs 9:30am to 6:30pm, and I think that's 7 days a week (blocked at work....buggers! Someone double check times please.)

All I can say is someone better be working the cameras! I want visuals with my stories!

Last year when I visited Vegas, I made a trip to the Gun Store - it was absolutely awesome! The guys working there were really helpful and friendly, and ensured my Dad and I had a ball shooting various kinds of guns.

Highly recommended!

about how much does it cost for the Gun shop thing? and is there a time set on the Star Trek side trip? I'm planning on doing that on Wednesday, but it would be fun to go in a group.

Do you find everything you don't understand to be "strange and frightening"? What harm does it cause to shoot paper targets?

Whohooo. I'm all for it. Timing may be a problem- lots going on.....
"Gun control means being able to hit your target"

I think all of us paid about $40. The guy with the big-ass Magnum cannon just got only 24 bullets instead of 40 like the rest of us. (i.e. 4 reloads).

Count me in. I like shooting things with things.

Oh Freaky, I think I will call you Freaky from now on. I don`t mind if you`s lot want to shoot at targets, I can understand that. When I was a kid I had a spud gun and there was no finer feeling than to knock a cork off a wall.
What I was doing there was making a kind of pedantic joke-ie to shoot a gun you would need 2 guns, one to fire and one to shoot, a kind of an irritating play on words, if you will. Do you see what I did? I was correcting grammar for the fun of it. Not much of a joke really. Not a joke at all in fact. Wish I`d never tried it now.
Saying that, a Star Treck trip is inexcuseable, and strange and frightening

Silly me, I thought that maybe conversations like this:

would indicate that you have some sort of irrational paranoia about guns.

Not even taking kids to shoot paper targets?
