Hi!

I was wondering about the black boxes found - I do know that the black box from AA77 was found at the Pentagon, but have any other been recovered?

Reason I ask is that these two pages has come to my attention:

http://www.americanfreepress.net/html/black_box.html
http://www.oilempire.us/black-boxes.html

According to those, "Honorary Firefighter" Mike Bellone and his partner Nicholas DeMasi (who at the first link is listed not as "Honorary Firefighter", but as "Retired Firefighter" and at the "oilempire" link above, just plain "Firefighter" - apparently belonging to Engine Company 261 in Queens).

Where did Bellone work? The Freepresslink claims he was made an "Honorary Firefighter" after 911, indicating he was something else ("911 Rescue worker"). The Oilempire-link lists him as firefighter.

What gives?

/S

Both flight 93 black boxes were found on Sept 13. None of the four WTC black boxes were found.

Each plane had two recorders, FDR and CVR (FDR for data, CVR for voice in the cockpit). None of the four recorders were found at the WTC. Both were found at the Pentagon, but the CVR was damaged and unreadable. Both were also found at Shanksville, and both were readable.

Dylan thought he'd found the WTC recorders in a museum, but that proved to be a mistake.

ETA: Ah, Ref beat me to it.

One of Avery's all-time greats. He thought that a poster that had been at ground zero to help workers searching for the aircraft data recorders, was a photo of the actual recorders. He got VERY excited, having found in a museum what the government denied existed!

Avery:

"they weren't the actual ones. they were pictures of the actual ones. but a placard specified them as the black boxes, if memory serves. it's late, ill dig up the high-quality pic tomorrow.

either way, they shouldn't be claiming they are intact if they "weren't found"

Another absolute classic from a LC member in that thread:

The black boxes don't exist. Their entire meaning was pointless. How could they record the cockpit if they're at the tail section of the plane?

Hey, there are little people in my television!

Bellone called "Fraud" here:

http://www.gmtoday.com/news/local_stories/2005/October_05/10182005_10.asp

"It wasn’t until two years later that we began getting complaints about him," Tinney said. "We have one honorary firefighter and that is a child from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Aside from the child, it is normally the chiefs and those above who are made honorary firefighters and he (Bellone) isn’t one. He’s saying he was made an honorary firefighter by New York Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta. That’s a fallacy."

After taking complaints, FDNY investigators questioned Bellone and discovered the breathing apparatus and other gear were missing from the fire department’s Mask Service Unit since Oct. 1, 2001.
Three years later, Tinney said Bellone was warned to return all of the FDNY equipment he had in his possession.
