I remember reading an article on www.cnn.com or www.msnbc.com about a guy who invented a machine that would break down pretty much anything and turn it into a powder.

There was a picture of the machine, it was painted blue, and kind of looked like the cylinder on the back of a cement truck if it were turned on end.

The machine's operation was described as getting slightly warm, then humming, and in a short time, nothing but powder coming out of the thing.

I've been searching each site (cnn and msnbc) but so far haven't found it.

Does anyone recall this thing or what it was called?

Try using the term "windhexe" in some web searches.

Windhexe is it. I found the original msnbc article as well http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4723367/ I'm glad to see my memory serves me well.

Thank you for the reply Q.

By the way, how did you find it? Have you heard of this before and know what it was or did you search on a certain term to find it?

Considering that report is two years old, wondering what the holdup is? I think I'd have heard more about it by now.

This is the website of his company.

This guy is listed on the site as the "Executive Vice President"

Why is his name michelle? Whoknows. But that universalgri.com site is questionable.

I think I happened to hit upon some adquate search terms in short order - perhaps machine+powder+anything using Google.

That got me to this link on Boing Boing, which in turn linked to Vortex Dehydration Systems. With the name of the machine (Windhexe) and the inventor (Polifka), one can find a number of hits using a search engine.
