Mr. Hennigan starts by writing about Scientology, and how wacky weird it all is. Most everyone, who is not a Scientologist will read, and laugh along with Mr. Hennigan as he tells about their quirky beliefs. Then he hits his readers with this...

Every year millions of Scientologists buy chocolate eggs and give them to children in memory of their religion's founder and his rise from the dead. Oh sorry, that's Christianity.

And that is my point. The method of attack against scientology is basically to identify the more outlandish beliefs and activities and use these to undermine the whole enterprise. In much the same way that someone could attack Christians for actually believing that several thousand years ago someone got a big boat and rounded up a pair of every animal - have you ever tried to lasso one squirrel let alone two? - and put to sea until a dove came along with a twig to give the flood all-clear.

Then there's the one about how the planet Earth was made in seven days. All rib-tickling stuff if considered in isolation. And that's just the Old Testament. The story of how some son of a joiner (carpenter does sound so much more romantic) turned water into wine is just one of the antics to be found in the New Testament.

Needless to say, a majority of his readers at this point get a nice smack in the face. I love it. Well done, Brian.

Niiiiiiice....

I love stuff like this ;)

I told my coworkers the same thing when they were 'laughing' about scientologist's....

I told them that both 'stories' were crazy, and that Christianity just had a 2000 year head start ;)
