Happened to my g/f last night, coming home from work. A black cat (actually a kitten) was on our front porch, running back and forth in front of her.

Within 3 hours the refrigerator broke down (22 years old, not worth fixing) and the Blackhawks lost Game 7.

Explain that skeptics! :p

Obvious - you didn't make an offering to the cat lord so he arranged for your refrigerator to be damaged.

As for the blackhawks, I'm not an ornithologist so no idea about that.

A black cat crossing a road very often brings bad luck.

For the cat.

Hans

On a more serious nore this one this male black cat

<---------------------------------

Cross my path 50 times a day. I was never more or less lucky (on the other hand, he was unlucky a few time to leave his tail under my foot....)

This black cat brings nothin' but the ladies.

Yesterday a stripy cat (Zola) crossed my path several times while I was walking from the kitchen to the living room.

Turned out unlucky as in trying to avoid standing on her I stumbled and dropped my lamb dhosa on the floor :(

You should name that cat Campoli.

Unlucky is a question of perspective. It might be actually have been effort combined with a lucky draw for the stripy cat :P. Strip-ing your leg and so.

If a refrigerator lasts 22 years before it gets broken, I would call it good luck, absolutely amazing.

The cat definitely caused the fridge to break down.

The Canucks were the reason the Blackhawks broke down.

GO VANCOUVER!!!!!!!

When I was growing up we had barn cats to keep mice out of the feed room. One year we had a black tom cat, a black female and a stripped female. Soon we had two litters of kittens in the hay loft. When they got old enough to be out and about we counted them. Yes, we ended up with 13 black cats in the barn. I don't recall anything really bad happening, but I'm not a mouse.

<-----------------That's my Spooky (female probably-Maine-Coon)

She doesn't cross my path very often, usually only when she's hungry. Then I feed her. So it's lucky for the cat at least!

ETA: Sorry; she's still showing her Halloween avatar (courtesy of our resident pharoah). I haven't been able to replace it because I'm not usually logged in from home. Only my roommate thinks she really looks like that!

She doesn't like my roommate.

I have newborn kitties at home (My most recent foster cat was pregnant when I rescued her and has since given birth to five little darlings) and one of them is all black. I love it when any and all of these little darlings cross my path, several times each day now that they can actually walk. :)

And the Blackhawks lost because they were inferior to the Canucks, obviously. Go, Vancouver!

:D

Oh yes, black cats are definitely unlucky. Why, there was this one time when I rollerblading around, and a black cat runs right in front of me. And I mean, just appears from behind a parked car, right in front of me. So I swerve very abruptly to avoid running over it, and bonked a knee pretty hard on the pavement.

It's a coincidence, I'm sure your g/f coming home from work isn't the cause of a cat running on your porch, broke the fridge or made the Blackhawks lose.

Your g/f should have listened to the black kitten ,it was trying to warn her about the impending doom about to befall the 22 y.o. Frig [BTW ..1 frig year= 5 human years,so the Frig was really 110 y.o.],or she should have immediately called a cat whisperer to find out what the kitten was REALLY saying, and would thereby have been prepared for the death of her Frig...did it get a decent burial ?..Oh yes, Number 7 is unlucky, that's why the Blackhawks lost...Gee,you should've known that !:D
