8/10 Terrorist conspiracy

So, how long until we see a conspiracy theory revolving around the present shenanigans in the UK? It took about a week for the London tube bombings to start to generate CTs, so I'm guessing sometime in the next 5-7 days.

And what do you think the popular one will turn out to be? The two I thought of...

1) The whole thing was made up so Tony Blair could get the country behind him.

On the plus side, there has been speculation as past terror alerts have sometimes tended to come at convienient times for Blair. On the down side, they have arrested a bunch of people - where did they get them from if there is no real threat?

2) Israel is behind it all.

Israel is suffering badly in world opinion right now, what better time to up the profile of muslim terrorists and then loudly remind everybody that they are fighting the same battle in Lebanon?

jackchit, are you watching Sky News at all?? They're reading out all these emails supporting this "counter terrorism operation", can't believe the general public are buying into this.

Sky News has said that the perpetrators were "young British Muslims", and that it involved "at least 6 aircraft".

I call BS, this is another distraction / pr exercise....

Contrary to 9/11, the 7/7 London bombings did not have the desired effect upon British public opinion. In fact there was a great deal of apathy surrounding the incident. The majority of the British public did not care for Tony Blair's proposed "Anti-Terror Bill" which would have enabled wire tappings, and had pretty much the same effect as the Patriot Act in the US. Also, it cast public doubt on Britain's, well, Tony Blair's unconditional support for American foreign policy.

So the government is back at square one. The London Bombings weren't quite the spectacle they had hoped for; it's time for them to think bigger and better. Since the 1988 Lockerbie disaster, the term terrorism has for many people become synonamous with air travel. Being couped up inside an aluminum tube for 7 - 12 hours is already stressful enough, however, to have to consider the possibility of being blown out of the sky at 40,000 ft would turn most people to putty in the governments hands.

If you read the news, you will find that British secret agents were a part of this operation for months. They pretended to be terrorists until they were in the planes over the Altantic and made their arrests.

I have been on this from 6 am watching the news on sky, fox, cnn, and the BBC.
I agree its total sh1t of the first order.
This only broke in the early hours and we have all this information, tommorrow we will know the names of the arrested you can bet.

Thanks for posting this article and raising awareness. Putting this issue in the spotlight is the only way I can think to prevent it. I'm waiting for the details to be released since I 1st heard this news on the radio. CNN aired it at 11pm PST then again the next segment; now there's no stopping the clap trap.

pretty sure someone would say there have been several terrorists attacks...by the US govt.

oh well, you had to know with the internet, CTs would be instantaneous. its such a knife in the back to the people who sacrifice their time and risk their lives in the investigations that lead to foiling these plots when people just chalk it all up as smokescreens.
anyway, the US and other countries involved lose millions of dollars in these sorts of disruptions, the idea that it is just some sort of plan to allow them to attack iran is sped.

To play devil's advocate for a moment: remember the Police made a great song and dance of arresting two young asian men in London a few weeks ago - even managing to shoot one of them (happily not dead) in the process. IIRC, they were released without charge a few days later. Goes to show that the mere fact of arrests being made do not necessarily prove the guilt of those arrested ...

This is not to say I believe in any conspiracy for a moment of course

I'm sure the CTs have already moved past the reasons for the "scam" and have began collecting "evidence."

One point that I'm sure they have already logged, is how Blair left for the Caribbean on vacation, just after the terrorist plot went public. Now they just need to throw in some reason that supports their CT.

They're much more creative then I, but a stab at it might be... he needed to avoid a damning question from the media, while the evidence that spurred that question gets destroyed.
