650 French Jews Emigrate to Israel

Given the slow but steady rebirth of anti semitism in France, they are probably correct.

The article linked is the OP is very short, but nowhere does it mention reasons for emigrating involving anti-semitism. (I'm not saying this couldn't be a factor, but further evidence would be required to prove that point)

The French Jews seem to be going back to Israel for the same reason the America Jews are. As a patriotic gesture to show their support for their homeland.

I agree entirely. I'm also sure that the rise of anti-semitism adds impetus.

It is a terrible loss for the countries that they emigrate from.

Homeland?

My heritage is French Catholic and French Jewish. My parents were both immigrants to the U.S. I was born and raised in the U.S.

I don't consider France or Israel my homeland. Why should I?

According to interviews in the israeli press, while that is certainly a factor in the timing of the arrival, antisemitism in France is the reason for the fact of making aliya.

If you don't, then you shouldn't.

I'm not sure if the Jews who are emigrating from the US and France consider Israel their homeland.
By returning to Israel, they obviously have some sort of attatchment to it. I guess whether or not they consider Israel their "homeland" is something only they can answer.

I thought this was a joke thread!

650 French Jews Emigrate to Israel, along with a priest, a nun, and the farmer's hot looking daughter....

"And the nun says to the priest, 'If you looked as hot as that farmer's daughter, the Jews probably would let you!'"

Har!

(ETA: Okay, CS supplied the setup, I supplied the punch line. Someone else with a good sense of humor fill in the rest. I nominate Dr Adequate.)
