Now, I've only heard of 4chan in passing and I had the impression it was some sort of hackers' site, so I had no desire to go there even once. But reading the reports today of it being hacked and shut down seems kind of newsworthy. The source code was stolen, and "jannies were doxxed" (moderators', aka "janitors'" info was leaked.) Apparently some of them were federal agents. I think some neckbeards may be sweating for a while. Even more so than usual.

Haha, that's a cool term, jannies for mods.

I love 4chan. If the internet had a butthole, it would be an unapologetically angry little hemorrhoid on that butthole. Ironically much less awful than people expect - the real jackasses went off to make their own racist clubs with blackjack and hookers years ago, leaving only the state actors getting paid to endlessly fight the culture wars. But if you ignored the political crap and stuck to one of the niche interest sub-boards, you'd be hard pressed to find a more chill and ego-free discussion forum.

The most interesting takeaway of the leaks is that a plurality of registered /pol/ users (the US politics board, i.e. the nothing of value to be lost) were Israeli. I would have put money on the Russians.

Great. Now how will I make jokes in very poor taste?

Oh yeah, here.

This. Back in the day, /b was the fun place to go. Not even sure if that exists anymore, haven't been there in a while. Reddit kind of filled the niche for me.

I knew it didn't look right - but autocorrect didn't flag it and who am I to disagree with our AI masters?

If only they were occasionally correct.

Nobody is running grammar checkers to teach them grammar they should have learned in elementary school.
