Its an odd numbered year so any elections taking place are local. Nevertheless some of these elections are important.

These are local to me:

In PA, there is a vote to retain the terms of the Democratic PA state supreme court members. Normally this is a rubber stamp unless the judge has been doing something very bad, but this time millions have been dumped in the state to try and oust the three Democrats. This is unsurprising as they have voted against the GOP's Gerrymandering, support voting mail drop boxes, and a bunch of other ruling the GOP don't like.

Ironically, the opponents of these judges have only seemed to produce one ad and that was telling people to vote by mail against these judges. They did this right about the time Trump railed against voting by mail and signed a EO banning it. I've seen no other ad and its only claim against the judges is that the the Democrats "weaponized the courts against Trump!"

Haven't heard about many shennanigans but Chester county did manage to 'de-list' all the non-affiliated voters and they are allowing them to fill provisional ballots.

In New Jersey, the election is for the Governor in a surprisingly close race. Friends of mine voting over in that state have said things are running slow and there have been multiple bomb threats made against polling spots.

In New York of course the most famous election is for the mayor of NYC. We have a whole thread of the right-wing losing their everloving ◊◊◊◊ over the idea that Mamdani might be elected.

Ummm.. the thread title is '2027 elections', but I know that at least some of those elections are for 2025. Should the thread be retitled?

While returns are not fully in it looks like the Democrats won Governorship in NJ and VA.

The PA Supreme justices will be retained.

Voting is not finalized in NYC but Mamdani is well ahead as of this writing.

What will be the consolation prize for Trump? He is not getting much.
He'll just sign the executive order restricting voting rights and his concierge SCOTUS will back him up.

Looks like California passed Prop 50 to gerrymander the heck out of the State.

Of course, the Supreme Court will find a reason why only Red States get to do that.

Bucks County, the count north of Philadelphia, was showing signs of shifting in becoming more and more Red. But last night the Democrats swept every election including DA, Sherriff and several court figures.

Republicans in Mississippi no longer have a supermajority they've held for 13 years after 3 seats were flipped.

Basically there are enough members of the state assembly that they could overturn a Governor's veto if they needed to.

It was unlikely to come up since Mississippi hasn't had a Democratic Governor in a while but it you never know.

Yesterday was very much a referendum on Trump. But he won't see it that way.
Republicans are already claiming fraud, efforts to overturn results will be starting soon.
And they'll be motivated to work even harder to steal next year's Congressional election.
