Vampires of course don't exist but how could the folklore concerning them come up with the idea that Vampires don't cast a shadow?
I think it might be a allusion to Vampires not supposed to exist in nature and the light shines through them because they aren't supposed to be there????
Thoughts?
Perhaps you guys could help me out...I work in a bar in Southeast NC and apparently we had a vampire in for karaoke and line dancing. As a reformed Bigfoot bleever myself, when I was told some stories, I immediately started to wonder how a person could pull off such a wonderful hoax.
Among the...
Vanity Fair/60 Minutes is conducting a poll on belief in the existence of Bigfoot, UFOs, ghosts, Loch Ness Monster and vampires. More here.
Only 7% of all those polled think Bigfoot actually exists. Men believe it more than women, and those over 45 believe it more than younger.
33% believe...
With all the Twilight craze going around, I was wondering if there's a group out there that believes in the existence of such creatures (excluding mental patients with clinical lycanthropy and whatnot). I know that I can google it but all I come up with are histories and folklore. Any findings?
I think the answer is yes. I read about were wolves on wikipedia that some of the acts attributed to these mythical creature were often committed by human serial killers. Do the legends of these creatures actually indicate this?
So what would you like to see in a vampire novel, because I'm writing one.
Also, if anyone has some good books on historic vampire legends, it would be helpful for research. I know most of the stuff is very recently invented, but anything is helpful.
According to ancient Vampire lore the description of a Vampire was a fat bloated, cannibalistic, blood sucking animated corpse. If you read Dracula he wasn't handsome in the book either. How did they go from horrific monster to sexy monster?

This is just a ‘flying visit’ for now everyone, but as it really concerns a ‘new revelation’ about the so-called Highgate ‘vampire’ case, I thought it would be relevant here. This is not a new “revelation” as such; but I have finally decided to make public my views on a case of ‘vampirism’ that...
A video on youtube has made me do a little spelunking and see what I can find on the topic of "real vampires". Apparently the "vampire community" is a thriving, if a bit psychosis and drama filled, group of people who seem to believe that they need to consume life force (claim made by "psychic...
I've been following this strangeness since summer. Several of these kits have sold in excess of $1400. I've written two articles on this hoax, so I'll not rehash things here.

Love that last paragraph. People in the US believe in angels and ghosts, but vampires? Nahh, that's just too weird; just goes to show how benighted and stupid those Guyanese are.
To let Manchester share his views without flaming, I've opened up this thread as brodski did with one for David Farrant. I have a few questions I'd like answered by Sean Manchester.
1. In your BBC interview of April 2001, you state:
Please share the facts, then.
2. Same interview...
I've opened this thread because The Sean Manchester threads have attracted a number of new members to the forum, including David Farrant, President, British Psychic and Occult Society/The Highgate Vampire Society.
I am very interested to heat what David has to say on a number of paranormal...

No, nothing to do with anaemia, porphyria, or any other recognised medical condition (that I've heard of anyway) sometimes mistakenly linked with "real" vampirism, but a person who seems convinced that they aren't a "wannabe" or blood-fetishist...

Jonathon “The Impaler” Sharkey, a self-proclaimed vampire, has announced he will be running for the governor’s office in Minnesota. He definitely has some unique political views.
This might get him a few votes, but…
This statement is probably considered a bad move in most political playbooks...
Hello everyone, its my first post here. My interest in skepticism is starting to peak now coincidentally enough to TV, mainly the Penn and Teller show on demand. Anyway, I was wondering why the skeptical community hasn't tackled something I am very familiar with, vampires and those who claim to...
Urban myths seem to reveal deep-seated fears and anxieties in society. While usually and often dreadfully lacking the artistic talents of storytellers from bygone ages, from Homer to Mary Shelley, the perpetrators and disseminators of modern urban myths have powerful new tools to help propagate...
Hello All,
I am interested in a supposedly factual story regarding Highgate Cemetery and its environs in the late 1960's early 1970's. A real vampire was allegedly spotted in the world-famous cemetery and after many adventures, including tomb vandalism, the beast was finally defeated. Several...
Do Vampires exist ?
Certainly
Are they really the living dead ?
No
Perhaps you thought vampires were just made up creatures featured in books, hammer films, dracula movies and satanic scare stories.
This is, strictly speaking far from correct - there is such thing as a real vampire although...
This story is written by a Knight Ridder newspaper reporter! How ****ing woowoo can you get? Is the man high?!
