I have a server that is sitting on a public IP that runs a web page. Is there a way to get another webpage on this server without having to piggy-back domain names?
This is what I currently do:
Webpage 1: www.webpage1.com
Webpage 2: www.webpage1.com/webpage2
What I would like:
Webpage 1...
On another forum a correspondent reports
"Woke up this morning and saw our bedroom alarm clock had stopped at 4.40 so I went into the kitchen to get a new battery and the kitchen clock had stopped at the exact same time.
Neither of them needed their batteries changing in the end, they're both...
This is a continuation of a series I've decided to write about my wandering in the stairwell of the 12 steps of AA.
Step One.
After reading the First Step on the little chalkboard tablet and nodding with agreement over the “powerless” thing, I then read the next tablet.
“Came to believe a...
This site, by a patholigist with varied interests, including role playing games, contains a long essay prefacing his section on violent injuries which is a really interesting piece to read, even if you don't agree with everything he says.

It included one phrase which jumped out...
I just went outside and looked up at the clear sky. There were many stars in my view. Some were very close together... so close that I could observe two stars simultaneously. More actually.
... So, the conclusion is that ONE ~thing~ observes two+ ~things~ simultaneously.
... The conclusion is...
I have just exceeded my networking knowledge (it didn't take long, actually)
At home I'm currently using a wireless network. I'm in the process of copying some largeish amounts of data (gigabytes of the stuff) and the wireless is struggling a bit. I do have some ordinary NICs, cables and...
I started watching the most recent Harry Potter movie last night (watching half a movie per night is about all I can manage still, with two kids under the age of 2). And some questions re-occurred to me, so I thought I'd ask here, since I know there are quite a few Patter fans on the forum:
1)...
I was reading an article in Times Online about tension between Muslims and others in Britian, reached through "Butterflies and Wheels":

The site supports itself by advertisements at the bottom of the page. Here are the two ads I...
From a recent interview with our esteemed governor.
Which seems like a good time to mention the newly-formed group, South Carolinians for Science Education (www.sc-scied.org), which I have nothing to do with the forming of, but just found out about an hour ago. Or possibly less. Hopefully...

And, no, I'm not claiming a teeny tiny bit of "supernatural" in the prediction, either.

The two creation stories in Genesis can easily be reconciled when you recognise that the early parts of the bible are fully polytheistic. The writer of Genesis, Exodus, Numbers etc does not question the reality of the other nations' gods.
Gen 1 talks about the "elohim" in the plural. Apologists...
Several months ago I began a thread (not as Mariah, but as SherryA) on Unitarian Universalism. I had just begun attending one and was quite impressed, but was concerned about woo lapping at the edges.
I received many thoughtful, helpful responses. Listening, Upchurch? You were especially...
I was reading some editorial by some right wing hack. He was going on and on about how wonderful the NRA is cause they defend our 2nd amendment rights from those who would take them away. And I agree. Thing is that hack has also written about the ACLU, and how the are basically enemies of the...

Same Newspaper, Two columnists, One week apart: Can you guess which column was written by the M.D. and which was written by the writer whose columns "appear on Wednesdays and Sundays, with a usually lighthearted look at our city, our government and our (or at least HER) family"...
I'm listening to a lecture on dark energy right now and it reminded me of a question I've had in the back of my mind.
We have theories that attempt to predict results of nucleosynthesis taking place at moments past the big bang's "start".
My question is on how accurate we can be when the...
I posted this on a woo woo board, and I thought I'd bring it over here and share it with you good people... just for poops and giggles:
I lived in a haunted house for two years. At least, they told me it was haunted.
The history of the house was about as good as you're going to see for...
I honestly wasn't sure where to post this, but I'm pretty sure it's of general interest to the forum members and I haven't seen anyone else mention it, so: Showtime has announced the release of the second season of P&T's "Bull****" (the messaging program censored the title!!! ) on...
I heard on a radio show a man say that if he was an elector, meaning a member of the electoral college, and he was affiliated with Party A and set to vote for Candidate A, if someone came and bribed him with a million dollars, he could take the money, change his vote to Candidate B, and it would...
Guy in the middle doesn't seem too upset. Probably thinking "Those 72 virgins'll be a lot sweeter than my cellmate Bubba who's been making me his girlfriend the last few years..."

Will the Anti-Bushies read either of these, or will these books only end up preaching to the choir?
