Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.
Since election campaigns start earlier every cycle, why not speculate on who will throw their hat into the ring for the Republicans in 2024. Here's my list. some are serious, some are half-joking.
Donald Trump - Socialite turned game show host who lost the 2020 election1
Tom Cotton - Senator...
This is funny. I'm sure it will be rewritten.

Sounds like they're writing up a McDaniel win, right? The...
OK, folks! Let's get this ball rolling.
I'll go ahead and seed the field with some mentionables of note. Your thoughts?
GOP
P. Ryan, representative from WI
C. Christie, governor of NJ
M. Rubio, senator from FL
J. Bush, former governor of FL
M. Bachmann, representative from MN
M. Romney...
Six-term US senator Dick Lugar has been toppled in the primary today:
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/09/us-usa-campaign-lugar-concession-idUSBRE84800P20120509
Apparently, it's unprecedented for a senator of Lugar's longevity to be defeated in a primary.
I have mixed feelings: on the...
Will Santurum's supporters support the salamander (or newt)? And ill it matter if they do? Newt Gingrich has invited Santorum's supporter to back him. Will they still be repelled at his infidelity, or will they swallow their morals and back anyone but Mittens?
It appears there's some anecdotal evidence that Democrats are coming out to vote for Santorum in Michigan because they feel he's the weaker candidate against Obama. Michigan has an open primary and in a close primary it could make the difference. I'm a Democrat and I'm not sure I like this...
Three recent national polls put Santorum in a statistical tie with Romney.

Romeny seems to be on a roll. Going to my usual site I see that the average of various polls has the Republican hopefuls rated as follows:
Romney 30.0%
Gingrich 26.6
Santorum 16.0
Paul 12.8
undecided (by implication) 14.6
Considering that Romney also has more actual delegates, could it be that...

"The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is — and I mean this seriously — the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has...
The infighting does a lot of the heavy lifting for Obama.
Romney: Gingrich must return Freddie pay (and release ALL of the documents from the investigation)
Give 'em hell Mitt!
Hey Newt, you gonna take that?
So, after a bit of recounting, we learn that Romney fell behind Santorum by 30-ish votes instead of winning by 8.
So, not a big deal, you'd think. A close race, victory by a marginal percentage either way.
However, CNN and other media types pursued Romney through three different campaign stops...
Huntsman to drop out, endorse Romney
I liked Huntsman. :(
semi-joking: Only bad people are left!
Here's a "related" but very poignant article (read it, it's short!):
Romney and Huntsman [and Obama]
Help me decide who to vote for this week! I'm a registered Republican in NH, and have not a clue who to vote for in the primary. It's a year for writing in "none of the above". However, since I want Obama to win (not his biggest fan but he's way better than the sorry crop of Republicans this...

What the frak is going on in VA? What does it mean when 4 of 6 supposedly viable candidates are excluded from the ballot entirely (VA prohibits write-ins during primaries)?

Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
GOP in Ron Paul Denial in Iowa
Why is the GOP in denial about a man that the newer generation of voters is embracing? Are they truly in as much denial as the Democrats who couldn't see that Obama is really just another Chicago Politician?
I'm a bit fed up of these surges that excite political junkies for a couple of days but then fizzle out and boring old Mitt-25%-Romney stays on course for the nomination.
Is there any reason to think Newt's surge is for keeps this time?
It was all a ploy to make a Gingerich/Romney ticket look "mostly harmless".
Over the next few weeks, I suspect we see Gingerich and Romney take 1 and 2 positions respectively and the rest disappear, as intended and calculated from the first.

13% in the polls. Has everybody forgotten, or is it just that the competition is so lame?
"Gingrich, the former House Speaker, said there's a "big opportunity for an alternative candidate," given that Romney has not attracted more than 25% support in most national and statewide polls of current candidates.
"My job I think is to reach out to the 75 or 80% who aren't currently...
I know that I've mocked those true believers who have come here before bemoaning how the establishment news media pretends Ron Paul doesn't exist, and I'm not sorry for that. It's true that, in the end, he'll get about 3 votes (I hyperbolize).
But this morning, I witnessed the most egregious...
Of Ponzi Schemes and Jobs: Obama Now Leads Rick Perry By 11 Points
According to a new PPP survey, Rick Perry’s Social Security tough talk has hurt him, but Obama’s focus on jobs has given him an 11 point lead, 52%-41% over Perry.
According to PPP, only 20% of those surveyed agree with Perry on...
It'll be 3 years until we get close to the answer that this thread asks, but we might as well get started.
