The Rapture Index is the sum of 45 different indexes which range from 1 to 5. (the sum ranges from 45 to 225).
The website has been calculating this number for over 20 years.
The website also has a message board in which the fundamentalist Christians lust for the End Times. They are quite...

This Friday is The Day, according to that fount of all things apocalyptic, Harold Camping.
How many times must a person be wrong before they admit that they are yet to be acquainted with John Feces when it comes to predicting the end of the world?
I believe this fool will once again come up with some lame excuse and it will be more ridiculous than the last one.
Camping
South...
Is it here again already? I mean, it seems like yesterday that the world ended in May but now we have this new prediction for tomorrow (September 29th, 2011)

We have a local minister who broadcasts Sunday messages. Today's was an interesting one that I heard over the radio while in the hardware store. Apparently good Christians are not supposed to care about the environment.
Here's his logic:
The Rapture will be here any day
God favors America...

As my supervisor would say: "meet the new Rapture...same as the old Rapture".
Now, considering that people have sold their homes, given up all their possessions, committed suicide, tried to kill their children and...
Do you think it helped erode confidence in mainstream religious beliefs, or did people just compartmentalize it as "just one kook"?
I wonder if it made any difference. Of course, all I have is anecdotal evidence....
The people I've heard talk about it just chalk it up to a single nutter...
Here we are, long past the time when the rapture was supposed to have destroyed the world, and we're still not able to access their site.
http://www.familyradio.com/
I was looking forward to some explanations today, but we're apparently not going to get them from Rapture Central, it appears...
Don't worry. Once all the christians are taken to heaven during the rapture and leave us heathen skeptics to suffer on Earth, there are some things we will no longer have to worry about.
No more worrying about intelligent design in schools.
No more denying gay people the right to marry...
Just gone noon in Hong Kong. The milk in my fridge was off so I couldn't have my morning tea when I wanted it. Also my cat bit me a little when I was brushing her.
Doom and destruction all round.
What's happening your end?
Ok, this may be premature, but assuming the world doesn't end on the 21st -- and that's a pretty wild assumption, I know -- any chance any of those spouting this nonsense will come to their senses? Or, will they just go on believing and seeking a new date?
;)
Just asking, since, you know, most of you won't be saved. No matter how good and decent you are. No matter what you donate to charity. No matter how many lives you've saved, no matter hospitals you've opened, no matter how much change you've given a homeless person.
Does the threat of...
So far I've heard:
1) My math was wrong. It will actually happen on this specific later date.
2) God is forgiving and gave people more time to be saved.
3) It actually happened it just looks like it didn't.
I think each of these has been used for past rapture no-shows.
These are Harold Camping's predictions for the rapture, which he assures us will occur on May 21, 2011. He also assures us that the universe will end on October 21, 2011.
1. World's worst earthquake.
2. All graves from whole of human history (all 13,000 years of it) will open scattering 130...
Yes, it's coming, sinners.
NPR had a nice segment on Weekend Edition on the folks who say the End is really, seriously near:
http://www.npr.org/2011/05/07/136053462/is-the-end-nigh-well-know-soon-enough
Note that the leader of this bunch previously predicted 1994.... He says he hadn't worked...
So the rapture is due on May 21st this year, having been revised from the original 1994 date advocated by Camping.
Now, I was going to suggest that on 22nd May we get brian to do a podcast that said "nope still here." But the part of me that enjoys cruel jokes has a lingering desire to phone...
So, this billboard showed up by my work last week. Apparently, the world is ending again. This time, it's May 21, 2011. I guess they are trying to beat the rush during 2012. Has anyone else seen these billboards?
Do you lie awake at night worrying about who would look after your pets if you were taken to heaven in the rapture? Well, here's the answer to your prayers. For a one-off payment of $10, you can register your pets, and have them rescued and looked after should you suddenly disappear. What price...
who's up for making fake rapture videos and posting on youtube on mar 22?
Ideas
Fill blow up dolls full of helium and release them (expensive)
Lay out full sets of clothes in parks (like people left their stuff behind) and film that.
Here is an awesome idea, for us guys get two sets of our...
May 21, 2011 He's baaacckk!
Oct. 21, 2011 BOOM !
At least I'm happy for the billboard companies. Fools need to be separated from their monies to possibly learn a lesson, but I hate to see it happen to the poverty stricken fools who could use that money for practical purposes.
This time the chosen date is for the Rapture will occur on 21MAY2011 with the world ending five months later on 21OCT2011. :sour:
This is according to Harold Camping (http://www.wecanknow.com/) and his "special" numbers. Strangely there's no mention of his previous prediction for the end of...
So my coworkers were having this discussion at lunch yesterday, and apparently... oh, here's pretty much how the whole thing went. It's the edited version, though. The unedited version was a whole lot worse.
T: "Masons are devil worshippers and they're trying to take over the world. Michael...
New to me anyway. Have a friend who is all caught up in this, calls so often about it I had to change my cell number.
Has to do with May 21, 2001 and the Rapture accuring according to Howard Camping. This friend of mine so whole heartedly believes this that he says to me what will he say to...
I had to share this with everyone. This message was sent to me by a concerned Christian co-worker who knows I'm an atheist. Please watch and learn.

Well, I think we've all learned something valuable here, hmmm?:eye-poppi
And that's one to grow on...
Betcha never thought of this. ;)

You'll have to click the link to see and appreciate the entire line of reasoning, but here is the conclusion:
:D
The point of this thread is to discuss how we may or may not be in the "Last Days" if you believe we are then support your opinion and vise versa.
To start things off, I do not believe we are in the "Last days" because to be honest, more than likely all of the so called "Signs" have happened...
