    Phosphorescence and lasers: why do laser reduce the effects of glow-in-the-dark stuf

    I recently "charged" some glow-in-the-dark material and then shined a laser pointer on one part of it. After only a few seconds, I removed the laser light and noticed that the targeted part glowed considerably less than the rest of the material. Why?
