After 11 years in the wilderness Labour should be doing a hell of a lot better than this.
There's been like 130,000 deaths from Covid because the government's response to a pandemic was botched, how the hell has Labour lost Hartlepool ?
The same contempt for voters seems to exist that has...
Couple of names are starting to appear.
Keir Starmer seems ready to throw his hat into the ring. I think he could be a good leader, he is a good communicator, and intelligent.
“BBC Panorama spoke to former party officials, who alleged they had to deal with a huge increase in anti-Semitism complaints since Mr Corbyn became Labour leader in 2015.
Eight former officials who worked in the team and dealt with anti-Semitism cases claimed to the BBC that:
- The leader's...
The sudden death of Labour's leader a quarter of a century ago was to a lot of people genuinely shocking.
A decent man, though with a reputation (at least in the media*) for being dour (though this was the time of John Major's premiership, so go figure). After his passing, some viewed him as...
This is a little disturbing considering the recent murders in Pittsburgh.

It appears the youthful side of the party is even more bonkers than Corbyn and McDonnell.
From article:
Young Labour demanded the UK ditch the military alliance after voting to support a motion called “support Corbyn and internationalism, oppose Trump and NATO”.
The motion said: “From Guyana...
BBC News: General election 2017 - Corbyn pressed over IRA comments
"Jeremy Corbyn has refused to single out the IRA for condemnation when pressed over his past campaigning activities.
The Labour leader said "all bombing is wrong", as he was repeatedly asked to condemn the IRA alone for its...
It seems that a new leadership contest is inevitable after the election and the scuttlebutt seems to be that Yvette Cooper is the name in the ring.
Not someone I know a great deal about but she seems to be fairly run of the mill in terms of her voting record etc. A fairly sensible middle of...
With Cameron carrying out his best Michael Corleone impression and eliminating his rivals during a celebration, who will be the next Labour leader?
The early frontrunner Burnham would probably be popular with those who want a 'story' for their leader. Working class, fairly likeable, he'd...
4,300: How Labour has created a new crime every day since 1997
This kind of unrestricted legislation means every citizen breaks some law pretty much every day. When combined with electronic surveillance, it means every citizen can be prosecuted for something every day -- most likely something...
Ahem. Apologies for the dreadful title :D
Well, anyway, it seems as though Blue Labour is gaining some traction.....so what are people's thoughts? Does it mark a shift in emphasis? And if so, where to? Or is it just a lot of management speak triangulated hot air?
Discuss :)
Just in case anyone is interested, here is a thread for the Irish elections this friday.
Anyhoo, it looks like Fine Fail are set to get obliterated by Fine Gael, who are likely to go into coalition with Labour. Gerry Adams is set to win a seat.
A surprise move to put Johnson in as Shadow Chancellor, given his admission that he has little experience in economics. I'm not sure whether this is a brilliant move by Miliband - having a former postman as a chancellor who grew up in a council flat against the incredibly wealthy Gideon- or a...
Which son of the famous Jewish Marxist would you prefer as leader of the Labour party? Ballot papers go out on Wednesday.
Allegedly their mother is upset. So she is voting Dianne Abbott...
I was at the Labour Leadership debate last night and David Miliband said something I simply couldn't understand.
Here's the summation of what he said:
What's that all about?
This article in the Telegraph suggest Blairite Miliband will team up with the left-winger Cruddas.

So, who's your money on?
I don't know if anyone got the education supplement in the Guardian the other day but the stats shocked me. After hovering around without increasing for most of the 80's, it dramatically increased each year in real terms since 1997.
How did they afford this?

The Tory lead has shrunk (In this poll at least) to just 6 points, with just ten weeks left before the likely general election.
Is a hung parliament going to happen for the first time in 40 years? If so, with whom?
After Brown loses the next election (yes, when, not if), who will be the next Labour Leader? Will the party take a swing to the far left like the Tories took a swing to the far right after their 97 loss (Hague, Duncan Smith)? I'm thinking Cruddas or Ed Miliband will be the far-left's choice...
Thinking back to 1997, I remembered what a remarkable time it was when Blair first became elected, and how excited and enthusiastic people were for New Labour in the months building up. After 18 years of conservative rule, it was a mammoth change in British history.
It was back-to-back news...
http://www.angus-reid.com/polls/view/32099/labour_party_gains_tories_lead_in_britain
There could be some factors that could have led to this. Either it is people waking up to the horror of a future Conservative government, or it is Labour finally shedding its scars from the Iraq War and...
So.... a minister about to resign in protest at his leadership. Constant sniping from the back benchers. Efforts to use the party conference to start a leadership campaign.
Will they get enough momentum to get him shifted, or will he hang on?
Can they sensibly replace him without coming...
I don't suppose it's as momentous as the US presidential thing, but it certainly deserves more media (and Forum?) coverage than it's got in proportion.
Interesting news today:
