I have long known the theory about spiral arms in the galaxy; that they are pressure waves moving around the galaxy, causing waves of star birth, and therefore brightness along the arms.
Then I saw this video (sorry to have to subject you to the numbing ignorance at the beginning):

I know next to nothing about astronomy, although everything I read about it is extremely fascinating. My question concerns the absolutely incredible pictures of planets, stars, galaxies, etc. that I've seen throughout my life in various books, internet sites, tv programs and the like.
I have...
If I want to look at the center of our galaxy and the center of the universe, where do I have to look? In which or near which constellation would they be situated?

Did anyone ever wonder whether or not our galaxy is a black hole? Has anyone ever looked at it's shape and thought of that? Our galaxy spins around and the stars near it's center get sucked into the black hole "assuming that there is a black hole near the center of our galaxy" all of the stars...
I know that the Andromada galaxy is 26 million light years away from here, but if that's so, and that galaxy is moving because of it's gravitational attraction towards us shouldn't it have already reached us in the past or am I confused becuase light travels faster then gravity. Brian Greene...
Who has viewed this galaxy unaided by binochs or telescope? Is it easy to see with naked eye or just too distant to bother?
If it is clearly visible, how would you describe it?
It's summer time here so I think it is still too light out to see it when it's above us. :)
