Well, it's not Tesla. It's Waymo (formerly Google's self-driving car project, now a separate company owned by Google's holding company).
Unlike Tesla's "Full Self Driving" feature, which is not actually fully autonomous as the name would suggest, these vehicles are in fact fully autonomous...
So, it looks like Ford is making a major change to its vehicle lineup.... Dropping most of its sedans in favor of Trucks, SUVs and similar vehicles.

Suppose that Otto and Duryea and Daimler and the others had stood back from their proof-of-concept vehicle and remarked, wiping their hands on oily cotton waste, “Welp. It works, but it’ll never pay if it can’t carry freight.” Then they’d set out to find bigger powerplants (Herr Diesel was doing...
Obviously, this must be banned:

A little more than a week ago, I was listening to this program on "On Point" radio on NPR about the future of cars. They had on a couple of people from Car & Driver magazine and the founder of Zip Cars. They talked a bit about hybrids, of which I own one (2014 Ford Fusion hybrid and absolutely...
Has anyone owned or driven a hybrid car? What are your comments? As good as a standard car? Better? Worse?
The reason I ask is that when I picked up a hire car today, I was asked if a Camry was okay. "Sure" I said, thinking it was a standard Camry, but of course it was a hybrid. Not having an...
Here in Australia we've had E10 fuel for quite a while (E10 means 10% Ethanol), as a cheaper alternative to plain unleaded. But I've noticed that the price difference has been getting smaller over time.
Filling up my old Mazda this morning, I noticed that the price difference (at least in my...
Thoughts on this? Seems to me to be existing systems stepped up a notch. It can do things such as reduce or increase speed according to speed limits, avoid passing on the right, stay in a given lane, and even warn the driver when it senses he or she is getting distracted by something.

Factory currently maxes out at 16,000 units/year and they will have a re-tooling shutdown and when they re-open be capable of 60,000 units/year.

Just got a link via email entitled:
EPA Fraud: Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf Actually Get Only 23, 25 MPG
The blog post's subhead says:
Here's the gist of the argument:
The blogger gives a hypothetical a little later:
Now, I'm not averse to the notion that someone (EPA or auto companies) may...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100602/bs_nm/us_ford_mercury
Yeah, Mercury is going bye bye. There's a slight mistake in the article, because it says Ford will be down to two brands like Toyota (after it also sells Volvo). But Toyota has three brands - Toyota, Lexus and Scion.
Anyway, Mercury...
Looking through some numbers, I noticed that cars have not gone down in value relative to consumers income, rather, cars today cost more as a percentage of total household income than they did in 1968. Why are cars more expensive today when trade agreements, labor costs, technology, etc.. would...

Just in case you may have thought driving around in a Smart Car was dangerous, here's something that I wouldn't want to be in if I got hit by one ... a Smart Car, that is.

So, it looks like Glenn Beck has found a new paranoid conspiracy to latch onto. At least that's what it seems to me. Can someone help me get to the bottom of what is really going on here? I'm looking around the web site and don't see the privacy...
While I have no doubt that converting the majority of our automobiles to electric from Internal Combustion (IC) will result in an improvement in the environment, I am not certain how great that improvement will be or if that move by itself will be enough.
To explain where I am coming from, I...
Read an article that had car designers vote on the most beautiful car ever. Not going to say what it is to avoid influencing any opinions.
Don't click.
Anyone have an opinion on what the most beautiful car ever is?
I was checking my cars oil when I decided it needed a quart of oil. I opened a container of "oil" and almost immediately stopped when I noticed that the "oil" was the wrong color. I had poured in a fourth of a container. I went to a jiffy lube and I had the oil changed. Was this necessary...
Big concept for the future.
GPS is accurate enough for contractors to use it laying out buildings. It takes a local transponder to get things within inches, or fractions. Cars have systems nowadays that are as accurate as the satellites, less the local transponder. Maps are accurate, or can be...
If you check the comments under any news story or any blog post about alternative fuel cars and/or hybrids, you see the same debate format.
Poster 1: "Our problems won't be solved until we convert to (insert alternative fuel here)!"
Poster 2: "Wrong! That technology will never be viable due...

Sad news, the 08 Dakar Rally has been cancelled.

This sucks in all sorts of ways. And from what I can tell, it might be a few years until it starts again. Damn.
So, Popular Science had a write-up on the brain-child of a California engineer, the Aptera. They have produced a 230-mpg 'car' that will be available, they say, for under $30k. Looking at the thing, though, I really have a difficult time believing it will be safe, or really that cheap.
They...
I wasn't sure where to post this, but since it involves money and a business deal I thought this might be the best place for it. If not feel free to move it wherever.
I currently own a 95 Ford Escort LX Sedan 4DR with 108,000 miles. As far as I know it needs a couple repairs. It has a cracked...

The automobile Industry seems to be avoiding electric vehicles and going for Hydrogen fuel powered vehicles.
Rechargeable vehicles seem to be an option. Note 2 vehicles as an example:
