Gotta love the woke; they are constantly on the alert for new causes. The latest is the racism stirred up by paintings of the English countryside:
I do love the insistence that this is not "woke"; apparently even the wokerattti know to avoid that description.
OpenAI Dall-E:
Two Minute Papers explains:
X3_LD3R_Ygs
A guy named Ben Barry got Dall-e to create a series of paintings of robots in different styles. He published the results in a free book:
1111101000-Robots
http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/17/arts/math-art/
The short video provided pretty cool. The article doesn't actually say who the guy is or if he has sold anything. Its pretty cool but I don't know if I would call it art. I guess I need to be more up on math to comprehend it.
Discussions elsewhere about what is art got me thinking What do you like? What are you favourite pictures. What would you have on your wall?
Some of mine are

Interested in seeing other people's art? I am.
Art fascinates me in practicaly all it's forms and I often think one can tell a little about a person from the art they make. Personaly I'm a portrait artist who also paints pets, wildlife and landscapes... so, I'll get the ball rolling with this.
The amazing Tim Minchin does it again! This time with a written foreword to the new book, "The Best Australian Science Writing 2013" in which he urges artists to embrace, not reject science, for the improvement of their work.
I hope you enjoy...
My favorite artist is Maxfield Parrish. I love his palette, his movement (although I wished he used two point perspective more) and above all, his technique He had a way of painting landscapes that, to me, were stylized to being almost hyper-realistic. I've always loved painting landscapes, but...
Mysterious woman is mysterious.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-09-28/mona-lisa/4284918
Forensic specialists declare it is the same woman.
But an Oxford art historian says it does not have the same "elusiveness" or "subtlety".
Anyone care to form a conclusion?
There's quite an interesting article (well, review of an exhibition) in today's Observer's New Review section on René Magritte.
I must admit, I rather prefer his work to other Surrealists (Dali, de Chirico etc), even with his bowler-hat fetish. Not sure why - maybe a second reading of the...
I understand Warhol's impact on Art in the last 50 years, his graphic skills and sensibilities are powerful...but does anyone know if he could actually draw or paint in a more classic style? Not asking as a criticism or a need for representational art...I like abstract art a great deal...but I...
And not just the fact that no-one outside the Netherlands can pronounce his name!
It would appear that the chrome based yellows in his paintings are turning brown, probably due to exposure to light.
A shame, means that they will have to be kept in the dark and only brought out for occasional...
Anyone checked this out yet? I think it's a great idea; offering virtual tours of the artwork of a wide variety of museums around the world. Oh, most museums have some sort of "tour" available; if only of the current exhibition, but often they are clumsy to use and very limited in scope...
This painting probably needs no introduction:
In 2006 it sold for $140 million.
It is the most expensive painting ever sold.
But is it art?
What makes it art?
What makes if not art?
In general, what distinguishes art from non art?
Could you be fooled by an art hoax?
For example, is this an...
It's available on youtube, in pieces, starting here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbQ0GqX0Its
What do you all think of what's brought up in this film? Especially those of you who ARE working artists?
A link I posted in the Hitler painting thread got ignored; probably correctly - it was technically off-topic. So let's have a general discussion of shock/horror/outrage in relation to works of art.
For example, here's another painting causing a certain amount of outrage. Mind you, it is a...
I've spent the afternoon drawing giraffes. It's for this: http://www.onemilliongiraffes.com/
Check out the mosaics - they're awesome.
So far, I've drawn 7 giraffes, but I want to do more, since he's collecting giraffes, not pictures of giraffes.
There's really only one rule:
but you can...
so i'm somewhat new to all this, but i'm just wondering, are people in the arts kind of mutually exclusive to skepticism? or is it just that it draws more people who are in the sciences (and all you MAGICIANS heh) and those areas and those people tend to stay away from art? i mean i know there...
So, for the next two weeks or so, the Victoria and Albert Museum (London) is hosting a display entitled: The Metropolitan Police Service's Investigation of Fakes and Forgeries.
Which raises the question: Is a fake art, if you don't know it's a fake?
Let battle commence!
Not sure if this should be here or in the Medicine section...
Anyway, according to some expert, La Giaconda suffered from high colesterol.
I suspect that the experts may be reading too much into these paintings. Artists are known to filter what goes down onto the canvas (or panel, in the case...
As there hasn't been one for a while...
Anyway. there's an interesting article in the January issue of Artists and Illustrators magazine on how he used photography as a base for his paintings/illustrations.
The article is inspired by the fact that there is a book out on the subject and an...
OK, just came across this story about young Hugh getting ratted and lashing out £2M on a Warhol.
But the comments are pretty hilarious, too...
That first sentence has to be worth a million BS points!
This is a video of an elephant in Thailand that is apparently painting pictures of elephants.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy9kKxJJpug
Is it for real? Can an elephant do this? Is this elephant doing this, or is its helper 'helping' it? And is the art-teacher from London, who says she's...
John T. Unger is an artist who makes industrial sculpture such as firepits.
A company that is making copies of his work has sued him to overturn his copyrights. It appears to be an attempt to make him run out of money to defend himself in court so that a default judgment will strip his...
I've seen and heard of excellant quality cave paintings and art but unless I'm mistaken all cave art was done by Cro magnon men. Didn't the Neanderthals ever draw anything on their walls?
