Poll finds more blame Bush than Obama for economy

When I visited the Tea Party rallies in '09, folks were as anti-Bush as they were anti-Obama.

If I were polled today, I'd blame both Obama and Bush, just as the majority of Americans appear to.

It doesn't change my assessment that Romney will do less further damage.

What, really, is there to blame Obama over? He's done just about everything that could be done to try pull America out of the recession. Was he supposed to make gold rain from the skies or something?

Well, I think he should have pushed for MORE stimulus, or if congress wouldn't play, just re-appropriated defense funds creatively to make jobs.

Like a defense authorization to repair infrastructure. Army Corps of Engineers is the prime contractor, and they then let contracts to private industry. Just claim it is a necessary part of the F-22 program because critical F-22 parts get shipped by road.

Geez, Obama has blamed Bush for 3+ yrs and you're worried that the GOP will run ads that blame Obama for 4 months?

Polls that I like;

1. Extensive polling has reveled that 51% of Americans are in the majority while 49% of Americans are in the minority.

2. Polls also discovered that if the election was held today 87% of American voters say they would be totally confused because the election is held in November.

Even then, right-wingers would complain the gold was pock-marking their cars while simultaneously whining that the precipitation they were expecting was more like moderate-to-heavy diamond gales with a 50% chance of intermittent platinum ingots.

As BenBurch said: stimulus was too small. There were also no real attempts to push through a second round of stimulus in 2009, and when 2010 came around he pivoted to austerity.

So yes, in that sense Obama carries a great deal of responsibility. Luckily he seems to have came to his senses the last year or so.

OTOH, I don't think Romney has associated himself very strongly with Bush in the minds of many voters (even though his proposals are pretty much Bush-but-only-moreso)...

not enough contrast with Obama's policies which seem mostly Bush-but-a-little-less-so.

At this point it is "Who could do a better job recovering from the Obama administration",

Obama or Mitt.

My bitcoins are on Mitt.

Perhaps you should keep those little dangly bits safely tucked away. Mittens seems determined to take Obama's worst decisions and double down on them, that path don't lead to recovery. Again we are left with the choice between bad and worse, and I just don't see myself playing that game ever again.

Ah, Ben, you big kidder!!

LOL!

It's a skeptic's forum. You can't expect to make a broad claim like the one Drysdale made without rightly being asked to provide evidence. If it's such a well-known "fact", then evidence should be abundant and easy to provide. Or it could just be a widely accepted canard.

If only they had been anti-Bush in '08 as well. But the anti-Bush thing didn't seem to catch on until after he left office. And even then usually only verbally, if they were cornered on why they hadn't been protesting the previous four years. Never saw many anti-Bush signs, just anti-Obama. Which is funny considering in 2009 what had Obama done to draw their ire? In 2009 Bush should have been ALL they were about.

...Where has Obama blamed BUSH? Show me. Obama has had nothing at all except polite words for his predecessor.
Go to the White House website and read recent campaign speeches. Obama routinely refers to years of presidential administration (surplus to 2001, deficits between 2001 to 2008) and to policies that he claims generated them (two wars, the prescription drug benefit, tax (rate) cuts) and generated the downturn (the housing bubble) and not to presidents by name, but the implication is clear if you suppose that presidents influence policy.
