Yes. I would find it absolutely incredible that a man with real psychic powers, who wished others to believe in them, would also go in for cheap trickery and be exposed. Why not just stick to doing real magic.... oh... because he couldn't...

I don't consider Larsen a jerk - I really haven't been around him long enough to have such a strong opinion. But his haranguing attack on flyboy and the bent spoons parties has been puzzling to say the least. I still wonder if maybe flyboy stole Larsen's hubcaps or something...
 
Claus just doesn't know where best to spend his energy - he often ends up arguing the details and missing the big picture. But it's a bit like "modern art" - he's always working on it, and most of it is probably a complete waste of time, but every now and then he produces something of quality. You just have to use a strong filter with Claus!

(Edited to Add ) : Oh, and Claus is dead wrong on this one. Good stuff Flyboy217. I found it interesting to see that your friends seem able to live in a grey zone between 'true' and 'false' on this issue - based on not much, and not really concerned about that!

Thanks. I see no problem with arguing the details, except when they're outright lies and attacks, or are evasive and meant just to bicker or win some perceived ego war.

(Edited) It seems to me that most of my friends (and indeed, most people I know) live in that gray zone. They don't really care whether certain things are true or not, so long as those things actually take work on their part to determine, and so long as they don't do much for their personal lives.

Just thought I'd chime in and mention that last year I managed to roll up the bowls of two spoons using only moderate, but deliberate, physical force. Admittedly these weren't the strongest spoons in the world but then I'm far from being strong myself. There were no cuts, bruises or broken fingers either. Straightening the bowls out has proved impossible. Not because the metal is to hard to bend but because the new shape is harder to deform than the old one. This is why little reliance should be placed upon the fact that people report that they couldn't unbend their spoons manually.

There is a very simple explanation for this:

I have psychic powers that depend on everything being just right. Some nights things just aren't right. One night I had a near accident on the way to the venue and I found I couldn't relax. But I had an audience to entertain with my psychic powers. I decided to cheat.

What are you going to say about it?

So you would discount out of hand the possibility that psychic powers might need very special circumstances to become evident.

I could pick off googlies, hit straight drives, and dig out yorkers with ease in my home team but, when the state team's scouts came to see me play, I was so nervous that I couldn't hit the side of a barn.

My psychic powers suffer the same fate.
