How can Dawkins redeem himself?

Does an incident have to be sexual harassment or cause fear, to be something that should be avoided when approaching relative strangers?

My twenty-five years of marriage have taught me how to deal with this sort of thing.

I'm staying the hell out of it.

Are we ever going to learn who the guy was and what his take is?

There is no elevator guy. Rebecca is rumored to come out soon to say she made the whole thing up as a metaphorical example of how not to act and that she's sorry the whole thing got out of hand.

;)

Actually, I confess. I'm elevator guy. I didn't even know who she was, really. I was just really horny and she's halfway good looking so I took a shot and then was like "meh" and went back to my room. I really can't believe my penis cause so much fuss. I will punish it later with a spanking.

After reading the materials and digging into a little bit of background, my opinion of this situation is as follows ...

I see a person who has gained a bit of celebrity status and isn't happy about all of the things that come with it. Rather than shrugging off the negative and moving on, they've let those things get to them and affect who they are. I also see a hypocrite who is complaining about being sexualized when their fame is due, in part, to sexualizing themselves.

...I'm curious about the opinions of those who are angry with Richard Dawkins.

Why are you only interested in opinions against Dawkins?

What can he do to "redeem himself", in your mind, if anything?

He stated a personal opinion that Rebecca was over-reacting, and I agree...there is no need for him to "redeem" himself.

Let me get this straight . . .

1- Some guy hit on some skept stick-up-her-ass chick in an elevator?

2- She used the incident to make a point about what is wrong with people who think skeptically in a public forum.

3- Someone who does think skeptically thought she was full of **** and told her so.

4- And self important bloggers are ready to go to war over this.

WOW! Must have been a real slow news day but I hear Letterman is looking to do another episode of stupid pet tricks and someone taught a bunch of net-chimps how to take offence just like real humans.

This could be salvaged.
