Hey, it's the TAM5 Forum Party!

The suites are located slightly away from other rooms, and when I get into town I'm going to try to finagle the best location I can. Loitering in the hall will be discouraged, and I'm hoping for the large sober contingent to help keep the noise level down. I shall bribe you with all the soda you can drink.

Rum and Cherry coke, and I'm yours.

I can bring an acoustic guitar. I'll have a think about sound equipment; maybe a pair of powered speakers. They won't be *that* loud in a big suite, but that's probably all to the good.

Don't make me be John Belushi to your Stephen Bishop.

Guitar and speakers: Yes!
Small car: No!

RustyPouch posed the following question: is there enough demand for a keg of delicious beer?

Yes! We would have to see what the hotel has available. Or, I wonder if they would allow us to bring one in from outside?

Okay! So this year, TAM is in a new hotel: the Riviera. Unlike the Stardust (may she rest in peace), the Riv provides no hospitality suite for our crazy goings-on. Thank goodness we're a plucky group of skeptics, though - this year, Skepchicks Ltd. will be sponsoring the forum party by renting out a great big suite. There will be snacks, sodas, and music provided in the 2-bed/2-bath/1-living room (edited to add: with balcony!) pad.

How do you know this won't end up being charged to JREF?

And so it shall be done.

rebecca, my rental minivan is at your disposal for picking up any necessary items for the Party. Just let me know.

Super, thanks Hutch. I'm guessing that we'll need to take a trip to CVS just before the party.

Do hotels usually provide kegs? It's a private party, so I see no reason why they would forbid a person from enjoying the beverage of their choice in their own room . . . even if it's an awful lot of that beverage.

Also, please note that there is no hard and fast dress code only because I'd hate to bar Paul A. from attending, but you are all encouraged to look stylish. This may include dress shirts, jackets, cocktail dresses, jeans, corsets, whatever. All I ask is that you make an effort. Except you, Paul, you can just wear your shorts and t-shirt.

So this isn't a clothing optional shindig?

The party will become clothing optional at the end of the evening in order to facilitate my decision making process regarding who gets to stay the night and who has to go home.

I should start writing this stuff down. There's a lot for we newbs to learn.

Remember too, that if you can bring your own in, you'll have to deal with getting a barrel to put it in, a tapper, etc, not to mention getting the keg itself, and then hauling it all back the next day. You may want to check with the hotel. It might be easier and less hassle to see if they can provide all that stuff. Just a suggestion. I'll help out any way I can.

Allow me to be your escort into the world of TAM. Here, you'll need this emergency medical kit.

In that case, I'm a shoo-in to stay the night.

That keg crap sounds like a hassle. Tell you what, frat boy . . . if you can organize its procurement, I might let you into the party (to set up and then take away the keg only).
