Israel is suspending air strikes for 48 hours

No fighters, no rockets = not a military target

doesn't matter who was where earlier.

That's not entirely true.

A more accurate description would be:

IDF thinks there are fighters = military target

IDF thinks there are no fighters = not military target

What is ACTUALLY there is in fact irrelevant.

Anyway...still around 47500 civilian deaths to go until we reach the figure you think would be unnacceptable.

Ah right, so that's why Australia pulled out of WW2 after 48,000 civilian deaths.

*nods*

All makes sense now.

The generation of today would be killing themselves protesting the 32 million civilians deaths during WW2.

There is a reason those people were called the "greatest generation ever."

I can only discuss with web his own opinion that 48000+ lebanese civilians dead would still be acceptable.

Do you understand the difference between WW2 and what is happening in lebanon?

What a strange sentence.

Israel Halts Air Attacks in South Lebanon

Hezbollah did not announce any reciprocal gestures and there were no reports of rocket attacks on Israel overnight.

Surely that should be a "but" not an "and."

And so far, BBC world service has not mentioned any Katyusha launches today, though they have been reporting them on previous days. They do mention the record number launched on Sunday.

Google has turned up no rocket launches for today.

Mostly an absence of evidence.

I suspect from Israel's point of view the current actions are at least as justified as the actions taken by our Nations against Japan in World War Two.

It's all a matter of perspective. Isn't it?

Apart from the sadness of the numbers involved in this single incidience, what exactly is the cause of this new "outrage". Haven't civilians been deliberately targetted from the beginning of this confligration?

My understanding is that the main reason a halt to air strikes was requested so aid could come through is the fact that the Hezballah was blocking the safe corridors that otherwise could have been used. Anyone else hear this? I will say that, if this is true, and it was Israel's reason for denying the request initially, it is not getting enough coverage in the press. All I heard on some networks was simply that Israel was denying a temporary halt to airstrikes. That's it and not the reason behind it. One more point in the court of public opinion for Hezballah.

There comes a time after a certain number of "accidents" that you have to stop and think, "Maybe this wasn't an accident afterall".

How many more "accidents" until you start to question Israel?

5 more? 10 more? 1,000 more innocent civilians dead?

What?

They should be QUESTIONED each time. But the answer to that question cannot be assumed.
