Mass shooting at Bondi Beach

Couldn't wearing his keffiyeh indicate he wants to show that not all his brethren support killing jews? I'm reminded of Pres GW Bush having an Imam on stage with him right after 9/11.

I suppose a keffiyeh could symbolize "I support the Palestinians, but not those Palestinians", but to my knowledge that particular symbol has never been promulgated. So I see no reason to give it that charitable interpretation in this instance.

To repeat, there is no evidence the Bondi attack had any connection to Gaza. The killers were almost certainly connected to IS which hates Gaza.
Its just seems impossible to get through to some posters here that the two Bondi attackers were affiliated with Islamic State NOT Gaza Palestinians or Hamas

THESE TWO ATTACKERS WERE NOT MOTIVATED BY THE GAZA SITUATION!!

Regardless of any motivation you speculate he might have had, its still inappropriate for him to have turned up wearing what has become a symbol of Jew hatred and terror.

I don't see how the one affiliation necessarily precludes the other motivation. Terrorists are allowed to have muddled motives.

Anyway, I think the more interesting Palestinian connection is the one people on this forum immediately made, to excuse the violence and blame the Jews. Regardless of what the terrorists meant, a lot of people were happy to conclude it was a pro-Hamas gesture.

QFT

There are a disturbingly large proportion of people who resort to this!

Reading minds now? Nobody has reported on what their motivation was.

That is a filthy lie and you should withdraw it and apologise.

Your desperation to declare Gaza as the motive is quite clear. Why you do not recognise that these IS motivated murderers most likely hate Gazans is likewise crystal.

And whether you like it or not, it is quite reasonable to conclude that you blame Israel for this attack.

Desperation? You'll notice that I haven't declared Gaza the motivation for the attack since the IS connection became clear. I'm just saying that @smartcooky cannot know what the attacker's motivations were.

That's not what @theprestige said. He said "excuse the violence and blame the Jews". I called him out on the lie. Blaming Israel is not the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ same as blaming the Jews.

You are trying to deny that you used the word retribution. It’s there for all to see. It remains a disgusting slur.

On the contrary, although its wrong on a technicality, many, many people these days use "Israel", "Zionist" and "Jew" interchangeably.

They also use "bbbbbut I didn't say Jew, I said Israel" to give their anti-Semitism some plausible deniability. It happens so often that I am no longer prepared to extend any benefit of the doubt.

I will never deny that I used words that I used. I will own up to when I'm making an error, if it can be demonstrated to be an error. It hasn't been yet because nobody knows what their motives were.

Nobody has reported it, but you already guessed it, remember? You attributed it to Israel's treatment of Gaza. It's a bit late for you to come crying about mind readers.
What part of

did you not understand?

Just for general consideration...

Some people say "Israel" and literally mean the Nation of Israel. But some people say "Israel" and "Zionist" as dog-whistle substitutions for "Jews".
Similarly, some people say "Islam" and literally mean the toxic religion that seeks to destroy and replace all other religions and western democracy. But some people say "Islam" as a dog-whistle substitution for "Brown Middle-Eastern People".

What I find most interesting is that the people who insist that when they say "Israel", the mean only the nation of that name... are the same people who insist that when others say "Islam" they cannot possibly be referring to the religion of that name. You'd think that those who demand nuance and deep understanding for their own pet causes might be inclined to offer the same to others. But that seldom seems to happen.

For me, a major tell is that the people who say they're talking about Israel, not Jews, are also not talking about Hamas.
