I grew up in white bread Midwest USA where people were proud to live in white only expensive subdivisions. It wasn't until about 1980 that any diversity was present.
Nobody talked about it but boy did the bigots reveal themselves loudly when it happened.

The undoing was it's a crime to deny anyone with the means based on race or the like. That undid a few of the better subdivisions when well to do non whites bought homes.
They couldn't legally bar the new residents.
And they looked to be horrible people in the eyes of many if they did try anything.

HOA can't legally block like that. Federal law.
But..... there is always another reason if they look hard enough.

It basically forced some to maintain thier "purity" by buying big lots out of the city-ish areas. Sadly my sister was one of them.

I can't possibly imagine the idea of fighting to move to a place where ignorant bigots would actively threaten me if I lived there.
I don't love punishment that much.
Even if I legally can it's kinda stupid.

Thankfully now it's rare that it's the entire area but just a few stupid people.

Long Island, NY is notorious for this. Every so often, there will be a news story about a real estate agent being recorded while explicitly saying it. And these are just the ones who were dumb/unlucky enough to get caught.

Dunno, dad grew up in a closet segregated world, believed it most of his life.
Only one or two of five of us kids kept up the faith he taught, somewhat.
My silly butt moved to Mexico and served in a fully mixed heritage US military. Something he just couldn't see as being tolerable. It was a learning curve for us leaving home. We seen how wrong his ideas were.

Most of his life he just simply could not see non whites as equal to himself in smarts or moral fiber. Even the ones in his chosen cult.

When he left that cult in old age he joined another church that believed/professed only blacks can truly be Jewish. And he wanted to be Jewish so he embraced that church.
Befuddling at best.

there’s a similar documentary series where louis theroux spent some time with the westboro baptist church and he went back later. as i recall one of the daughters had abandoned the church, most of them didn’t.

so it’s obviously not impossible, but i don’t think the expectation for children raised by fringe weirdo extremists are going to come out just fine and everything works out.

also the black jews are an interesting group. kanye west is into that, i think kyrie irving maybe too. i’ve heard of it before.

My childhood was not firmly under his cult. My mother is catholic so she combatted him in teaching us religion.
I was exposed to both but could only believe both were wrong. Because both gave me good reasons the other was misguided badly.
Not being religious was the sane choice.

Children of cultists do tend to be quite narrow minded for lack of exposure to other cultures.
But few I have met follow the cult after the parents are no longer guiding them.
