The Lost Cause Loses Again...Last Confederate Statue in Richmond Goes Down....

I'd like to see someone like Joseph Edward Murray get some statue action. Not trying to be cute here, I'm sure many have thought similar.

But I'm really for zero statues. Nobody is that good. Put a public toilet there. Something useful.

ETA:
Good to see it come down.

But mah heritage!!!! Just kidding, nobody looks at damn statues anyway, no matter who they are. Unless they're hot, which most statues are not. I did see a Roman replica of a Greek statue of Hermes in a museum once which didn't seem very impressive until viewed from behind. Holy crap was that ancient artist a butt enthusiast. This was a butt that was absolutely proper to immortalize in stone forever. When the earth blows up and we have to send our treasures into space for the aliens to learn of us I think this statue's butt definitely merits a place. It was just that good. And that's the value of recording our heritage in statue form, thank you.

Who's Chickamauga, and why are he and Dwayne Johnson good alternatives to George Thomas?

Also, shouldn't we also consider the Union's ring generals?

Christ on a bike - for an American, you sure are lacking in knowledge of your own cultural heritage! Either that or you know exactly who he was and are just being a prat!

Hell, even here in New Zealand, we learned about General George Thomas... "The Rock of Chickamuga" in American History class. He was the southern General and native of Virginia who chose to fight in the Union Army, and who was widely considered to be a traitor by his fellow Virginians. What a bold slap in the face it would be to have HIS statue and the corner of West Laburnum and Hermitage!

I believe dudalb has said that he’s dyslexic. I suppose theprestige thought his reply was funny.

Put a Statue of George Thomas,"The Rock Or Chickamauga" the Virginian who became one of the Union's nest generals, up in place of the Hill statue.

The best general of the era Virginia produced.

And can we get a few statues of Robert Smalls? In fact, can we get a goddamned Oscar bait epic period piece for that dude?

Eh. All of our history books effectively have to be approved by the Texas Board of Education. You can imagine how they treat the civil war. I mean, the War against Northern Aggression.

I think mine implied that Stonewall Jackson won the war and freed the slaves even though the slaves liked at as it was. Which was Abraham Lincoln's fault and that's why Thomas Jefferson shot him.

I'd pick this one if I had a say in it....even though it's not Hermes.
