I'm a pathetic idiot Hot Wheels collector and I often run into the "whatsitworth" collector in the store. This is the guy that picks a car off the peg and asks me, "What's it worth?". I generally reply, the store wants a dollar for it, so I'd say it's worth a dollar. They'll then reply with, "Yeah, but what's it worth?" as if they've found a true treasure worth more than the store wants for it. I point out there are millions of Hot Wheels made every year and the odds of even one of them being valuable is mind boggling slim.
That's when I ask them if they'd like to know the secret to making a small fortune with Hot Wheels. This always perks up their interest, so I tell them the first step is the hardest part, if you can get past the first step, the rest is easy. Now they're really interested. I repeat, the first step is the hardest, and ask, "Are you ready to learn the secret to making a small fortune with Hot Wheels?" Of course they say, "Yes!"...
So I tell them, "The secret to making a small fortune with Hot Wheels is, Start with a large fortune. You can then easily make it into a small fortune collecting Hot Wheels."
